Redditch based Uniline Safety
Systems, now part of the Capital Safety Group, which designs
and makes fall protection, access and rescue devices to
enable workers to operate safely at height, has won a
Queen’s Award in the International Trade category. |
|
Over six years, the company has
nearly quadrupled its export earnings from £689,000 to £3.93
million, from North America, Europe, Australia, South
Africa, the UAE and China. One of its recent projects was to
provide safety systems for the construction of New Doha
International Airport in Qatar, where American architects
specified Uniline. |

Uniline and Capital Safety have
come together to create the ultimate safety organisation,
with Uniline being the engineered systems brand of Capital
Safety. Through Capital Safety, Uniline will be able to
provide customers with solutions for height safety work
environments all around the world. Alongside other brands
within Capital Safety – Protecta which serves the
Safety-for-compliance market and DBI-SALA which produces
Safety-for-safety products – Uniline can now offer a total
solution and global reach. |

Company managing director Simon
Luke called for other firms to apply for 2012 awards, in an
Olympic year, which is also the Queen’s diamond jubilee.
|
|
“This Award has worked for us on
every level. It has raised our profile amongst our customers
and competitors. It is a superb endorsement of our quality
products and professional expertise and, for the Uniline
team, is a tremendous and well-deserved accolade. |
|
“I have no doubt there are other
businesses out there which have all the attributes to win
and would urge them to put themselves forward. The UK has a
great heritage of innovation and manufacturing, we need more
of them to shout about their achievements on an
international and global stage.” |
|
The awards are made annually by
HM The Queen and are only given for the highest levels of
excellence demonstrated in each category. They are judged to
a demanding level and winners receive a number of benefits
and worldwide recognition. |
|
The application/nomination
period for The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise 2012 is now
open and closes on October 31. Winners will be announced on
April 21 2012. |
