| The
Tiled Roofing Consultancy, which specializes in

problems, have developed their own computer program that
allows them to provide calculations to comply with British
Standard slate and tile fixings to resist wind uplift. These
calculations have been provided for Court Cases where the
nailing and fixing specification was not obtainable from a
manufacturer, as the tiles or slates were either out of
production, or imported into the UK. |

It would normally be very
difficult to obtain a fixing specification to comply with BS
5534, “The code of practice for slating and tiling”, unless
the tile or slate manufacturer is able to undertake the
calculations for you, as they hold certain key pieces of
data. |

Regardless of the age of the
roof, all that is needed is a good sample of the tile or
slate, along with all the normal site and building data.
From this the Tiled Roofing Consultancy can provide a fixing
specification for any pitched roof in the UK. In some
instances the calculations may show that the tile or slate
may not be capable of being fixed adequately in that
situation. In those instances the earlier this is identified
the sooner the specification can be changed. |

Surveyors, and Roofing Contractors, who at the moment can

decide what fixing specification should be used. |
