Ilkley Rugby Football Club in West Yorkshire has a prestigious new headquarters featuring Meta-Slate®, an innovative slate-effect metal roofing system from building products manufacturer Steadmans. Steadmans' Meta-Slate® Scores at Yorkshire Rugby Club Headquaters
Meta-Slate® incorporates all the benefits and speed of pre-engineered metal roofing yet offers the appearance of natural slate.
Steadmans supplied over 2,000 linear metres of Meta-Slate® finished in a matt slate blue Nova coating for the new £1.8m community clubhouse.
The system was installed at the Ilkley site by main contractor Sutcliffe Construction Ltd, of Hellifield, near Skipton, North Yorkshire.
Sam Allen, construction manager with the company, said: “We’d used Steadmans products before and always found them highly satisfactory. It therefore wasn’t surprising that on this first occasion when we used Meta-Slate®, we found it did everything we’d expected of it including being able to withstand the impact of rugby balls being kicked onto it.
“The system’s outstanding attribute for me, however, is its aesthetic quality. It looks absolutely fantastic once fitted.”
Providing a high-quality alternative to traditional roof finishes, Meta-Slate® can be installed on a wide range of building applications including industrial premises, offices, retail outlets, showrooms and residential properties.
Ideal for both refurbishment and new build applications, the system is easy for installers to fit due to its light weight and simple secret fix joint system. Weighing only 6 kg/m2, the roof panels require less sub-structure than traditional slates and supports can be up to one metre apart.
The Meta-Slate® system can be fitted onto either steel or timber roof structures and directly over Steadmans AS35 insulated panels for warm roof applications.
