| SIG
Sustainable Solutions, a specialist supplier of sustainable
building products, will be exhibiting at Greenbuild Expo
2010 alongside SIG Design and Technology to showcase a range
of contemporary and proven sustainable building products.
|
| In
particular, SIG Sustainable Solutions will be exhibiting a
range of products which represent each of ‘The Four R’s’
which serve as the criteria for a product or solution to
become part of the SIG sustainable product portfolio. |
Reduce
In its life cycle it must reduce through effective
management, the consumption and risk associated with energy
and water. |
Replace
The product must provide a viable alternative to an existing
solution by decreasing its negative environmental impact
and/or increasing the sustainable performance of a building. |
Re-use
The product should be re-useable and/or facilitate the
re-use of a product or natural resource. |
Recycle
The product must contain a high percentage of recycled
material and/or be recyclable. |
|
For example, some of the
products on show will include: |
|
Schuco PV – solar photovoltaic
modules suitable for a wide variety of application and
subject to rigorous quality testing in order to guarantee
performance. |
|
Natural Insulation – insulation
products made from natural materials such as sheepswool,
hemp and recycled plastic making use of natural materials
without compromising on quality and performance. |
|
Kwick Klick Hoarding - a ground
breaking flexible and modular hording system made from 100%
recyclable plastic. It provides a tough, adaptable,
versatile and environmentally friendly walling system
suitable for both interior and exterior use, offering whole
life cost savings, including reduced direct installation
costs. |
|
SIGA Slate – recycled slate
offering the beauty and character of natural slate with high
durability and top of the line performance. |
|
The Solaplug - an MCS approved
product that consists of a heat exchanger which is fitted
inside a hot water cylinder via the immersion rod. It is
then attached to a solar thermal panel. The main benefit is
that it allows the existing cylinder tank to remain in situ,
thus saving about £600 on a new twin coil cylinder. |

Paul Roche, Director of SIG
Sustainable Solutions, comments: “Both the government and
the wider construction industry acknowledge that a radical
step change in the way we currently design and build is
required if environmental targets are to be met. For the
majority ‘going green’ is regarded as both complicated and
expensive – however, Greenbuild Expo provides SIG with the
opportunity to demonstrate that there are a wide range of
practical and affordable solutions available providing
tangible environmental and economic benefits that will
improve a building’s performance.” |
