Klober has supplied a range of roof ventilation and dry fixing products to the Stone House Hospital redevelopment near Dartford. Conversion and refurbishment of the Grade II Listed Victorian hospital is being undertaken alongside construction of 260 homes, all to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4. Accessories were used to meet differing requirements, most notably in respect of ventilation.
Contractor Graham Cobain commented, “An air open underlay was required so 'Permo air' was used on new and re-roofed areas. Tile vents, ridge and eaves ventilation were also needed for a complex specification involving several variations in pitch”. Products included the Roll-fix dry ridge system, fascia vents, underlay support trays, loft vent trays, roll out rafter trays and Uni-Plain tile vents.
The hospital was opened in 1866 as the City of London Lunatic Asylum, to accommodate ‘pauper lunatics’ on the insistence of the ‘Commissioners of Lunacy’.
