Prodeck-Fixing, leaders in the supply and installation of
steel floor decking, is using the Spitfire P525L Stand -Up
Cartridge Tool from Spit to install The ComFlor® 225 floor
system from Corus Panels and Profiles. Since introducing the
tool, it has significantly reduced installation time -
firing up to 1000 fixings per day - and has helped eliminate
back strain for the Prodeck-Fixing team. |
 |
|
Prodeck-Fixing works closely with the Corus Panels and
Profiles as an accredited installation contractor for the
company's ComFlor® 225 system, an engineered floor solution
developed for use in multi-storey, steel framed buildings.
Part of the installation process is to fix metal decking
sheets to the structural steel frame, which involves fixing
up to 4 pins into each metal sheet. |
|
Until recently, Prodeck-Fixing
was using a single shot machine to fix the pins, having to
manually reload a pin after every shot. The small machine
also meant the team would have to spend hours bending down,
making installation a laborious and painstaking process.

James Fisher, Managing Director
from Prodeck-Fixing, commented on switching to the Spitfire
P525L Stand-Up cartridge Tool: |
|
"Installing the pins into the
metal sheets with the Spitfire P525L tool is significantly
quicker. In fact - it takes us half the time it did with the
old single shot machine. Added to that, the upright working
position means it reduces the user’s fatigue. We have used
the Spitfire P525L tool over a number of sites so far and
it's quite simply quicker and easier." |
|
The P525L Stand Up Cartridge
Tool from Spit is the quickest and most consistent method of
attaching metal decking to structural steel. Fully automatic
firing 1000 fixings per day, the tool provides efficient pin
loading with an easy disassembling system. Robust and
ergonomically designed, it also provides an ambidextrous
handle position for left handed operators. |
|
The Spitfire P525L is suitable
for sheet steel 3mm thick to solid, for fixing ribbed sheet
metal onto hot rolled steel framework, tubular steel
framework as well as fixing insulations and gutters onto
steel framework. |
|
James Fisher added, "We've been
very happy with the Spitfire P525L and the support from
Spit, who provided safety and operation training on site for
our entire team. Some of us at Prodeck-Fixing are continuing
the training in order to be certified to train others in the
use of the cartridge tool." |
|
Spit provides free on-site
training and certification in the safe use and maintenance
of the company’s complete range of Gas and Cartridge tool
fastening systems. |
