There is a huge opportunity on the horizon for roofing
contractors looking to install the new roof-mounted
renewable technologies. With the Government offering
consumers incentives through schemes, such as, the Green
Deal, there is a potential that all of the UK’s 26 million
households could help the renewables grow rapidly. Roofing
contractors seeking to be involved in this growth through
the installation of the latest solar PV and solar thermal
technologies should attend InstallerLive (NEC, Birmingham,
16-19 October) for advice, product information and the hands
on training they need. |
 |
|
This year’s InstallerLive,
actively supported by the National Federation of Roofing
Contractors, will be packed full of products, advice and the
skills-based training contractors can trust so they can do
just that. The Federation will be hosting the NFRC Solar
Roofing Zone, dedicated to roof-mounted renewable
technologies. The centrepiece of the zone will be the NFRC’s
roofing rig where visitors will be able to watch firsthand
roofing expertise in action. The NFRC has teamed up with
Ploughcroft Managing Director, Chris Hopkins (of BBC’s
Dragon’s Den fame), doing live demonstrations of installing
PV and solar thermal panels on a specially-created roofing
rig throughout the course of the show. |
|
Ray Horwood, Chief Executive
stated, “NFRC is pleased to be invited to exhibit and
demonstrate at InstallerLive. Roofing has a key part to play
in the development of the renewables industry. We look
forward to competent roofers working with other professional
trades to achieve best practice.” |
|
“With the introduction of the
Green Deal, the Renewable Heat Incentive and
Feed-In-Tariffs, there will be increasing opportunities for
roofing contractors and we are thrilled to have the NFRC
supporting InstallerLive” says Event Director, David
Pierpoint. “Solar PV is going to be a massive area with
homeowners taking advantage of the incentives available. It
is essential roofing contractors improve their skills to
meet these demands.” |
|
To ensure installers understand
the training and qualification opportunities available to
them Easy MCS and ATL will be on hand to guide them. Easy
MCS a regular to InstallerLive will be showing installers
how beneficial MCS accreditation and the renewable market
can be, as well as how straightforward it is if you have the
right support. With the help of a touch screen, ATL will be
able to show visitors the courses available, discuss which
one is right and advise on booking. The show has also signed
up some of the major players in the solar industry including
Cleaner Air Solutions, The Electric Heating Company, Secon
Solar Ltd, Remeha and Vokera. |
|
There will be a vast amount
going on at this year’s show and the InstallerLive
Educational Programme will provide unrivalled, practical
education with more than 70 FREE sessions taking place in
four education areas – the Green Deal Station, the Heating
and Cooling Skills Station in association with Corgi
Services, the Plumb and Electro Skills Station in
association with EAL and the Eco Challenge sponsored by The
National Skills Academy For Environmental Technologies.
|
|
Roofing contractors will be able
to take advantage of a number of solar themed sessions. In
the Heating & Cooling Station Kevin Carling, Managing
Director at Secon Solar will be discussing the different
types of solar thermal controllers and pump station
applications. There will also be a session about solar
thermal hot water from Tony Lobley, Training Manager and
Viessmann. Whilst in the Plumb & Electro Station, Wagner &
Co Solartechnology will be running a session about ‘How to
Mount Solar PV Correctly’. Solar Century will be running a
seminar entitled ‘Overwhelmed? How to Select the Right Solar
Products for your Business’. The 20 minute session, running
on the Tuesday and Wednesday, will compare the different
options available for residential properties and provide
practical examples from the UK to help contractors make
informed choices for their projects. |
|
The shows official event
partner, The National Skills Academy For Environmental
Technologies is sponsoring the ‘Eco Challenge’. A new
feature allowing visitors to test their skills against
others in an exciting, timed competition focused on
installing renewable technologies. |
|
It’s not going to be all work
and no play at InstallerLive. Visitors will also have the
chance to take a Half-Time Break and join the daily debate
with football pundits Dave Bassett, Pat Murphy, Steve
Claridge and Gary Newbon. In addition, the industry’s
InstallerLive Awards will also take place at the show.
