Roofers looking for an
easy-to-install, cost effective insulation solution for
light weight roofs have a tailor-made product to turn to:
ROOFMATE LG-A from Dow Building Solutions. The product is
designed for buildings where limited roof top access is
expected and can also be used alongside Dow’s ROOFMATE SL-A
boards as an insulation solution for parapets. |
 |
|
ROOFMATE LG-A comes with a 10mm
modified concrete topping to minimise cost and installation
time, making it ideal for projects where time is of the
essence - such as schools trying to schedule building work
around term times. One such school is Harris Academy in
Dulwich, East London, which is due to move from temporary
accommodation to purpose-built facilities in September 2010.
1,500m2 of ROOFMATE LG-A has recently been installed on the
project within tight timescales. |
|
The product is part of Dow’s
environmentally-advanced STYROFOAM-A range, which uses
technology that takes CO2 from industry and uses it as a
blowing agent in order to create blue extruded polystyrene
foam with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than
five. |
ROOFMATE LG-A boards are widely
available in thicknesses of 80mm plus the 10mm topping - but
thicknesses of 120mm and 180mm plus 10mm topping can be made
to order by special arrangement. All boards are:
- tongued and grooved on
long edges so they lock together for continuous
insulation, eliminating thermal bridging;
- light enough for one man
to handle;
- capable of being cut and
shaped on site with a masonry saw;
- installed in one easy
operation, avoiding the extra cost and time of a ballast
layer.
|
|
ROOFMATE LG-A is also designed
to minimise the effect of wind uplift. Joints between boards
interlock, but are not airtight, meaning differences in
pressure between top and bottom surfaces - produced by wind
blowing across the roof – rapidly equalise, reducing uplift
forces on the insulation. |
