The Michael Tippett School,
Kennington is the first school in London to be completed
under the Government’s Building Schools for the Future (BSF)
programme. |

Designed by London Eye architect
Marks Barfield, the £7m secondary school was designed for
students with profound and multiple learning difficulties.
|
|
Completed in February 2008, the
school opened in record time, only 9 months after work
started and is a credit to the close working relationship of
the architect, the delivery team and the school itself. |

A Bauder extensive green roof
was chosen as a lightweight solution dictated by the long
span pre-stressed concrete planks used for the structural
roof deck. Working closely with Marks Barfield and Apollo
Education, Bauder recommended their unique extensive green
roof system incorporating tapered insulation to provided
drainage falls and an higher than average U value. The
2400m² of Bauder roofing and 1800m² of Bauder sedum blanket
were successfully installed on time and within budget.
