| Kee
Safety recently played a role in the hugely successful 2009
Children In Need campaign. Teaming up with the dragons from
the BBC’s Dragons Den series, Kee Safety volunteered its
services and products to help renovate a run down community
centre in London which helps keep kids off the street. The
company supplied its Kee Access® range to install a new,
high quality handrailing system at the front of the
building. |

The BBC’s annual Children In
Need appeal raises millions of pounds for children’s
charities, with the help of well known names and faces. This
year, Deborah Meaden, Duncan Bannatyne, Peter Jones, James
Caan and Theo Paphitis from Dragons Den were enlisted to use
their entrepreneurial skills, contacts as well as tradesmen
and volunteers from the local community to complete a tough
challenge – to transform Middle Park Community Centre into
an appealing and inviting centre for the kids of the area,
all in just 72 hours. |
|
Kee Safety offered its support
by donating design and installation expertise as well as
products from its Kee Access® range to create a brand new
white handrail leading up to the entrance. Kee Safety
ensured that this system met all the requirements of
building regulations as well as the Disability
Discrimination Act (DDA). |
|
“We were thrilled to be involved
in such a good cause” says Martin Bunn, Project Engineer at
Kee Safety Ltd. “The Kee Access system was perfect for the
project. It’s quick and easy to install, provides a safe
handrailing solution which meets the relevant regulations,
and looks great when it’s up. We’re sure the new and
improved centre will be used for many years to come.” |
|
The Kee Access® range can allow
both speedy and seamless retrofitting, as well as
hassle-free and simple installation. The range is designed
to give a smooth handrail with size 7 tube (outside diameter
42.4mm) and is therefore compatible with the DDA
recommendations. It incorporates a total of seventeen new
fittings and is supplied with versatility, ease and speed of
installation in mind. Ideal for use in creating new
structures, the series can also be used as a retrofit
solution, because it includes an “Add-on” offset fitting to
allow a new handrail to be added onto an existing structure
of appropriate size. |
