Timber cladding has made a real comeback in recent years,
loved by architects and clients for its tactile properties,
good looks and sustainable credentials. Specifying the
design of timber cladding is now easier than ever now that
rainscreen cladding support systems specialists EuroFox has
launched the aluminium MacUNI bracket for fixing battens for
mounting timber cladding on projects where there are medium
to large cladding zones. |
 |
|
Traditionally, timber battens
were fixed to the substrate for the timber cladding to be
nailed to. Now, with sophisticated modern substrates and
cladding systems, which require larger cladding zones for
the inclusion of insulation, and ventilation this basic
build up is no longer always appropriate. Eurofox has
launched the MacUNI system to offer specifiers and
installers a highly developed alternative that is still
simple to design and install. The MacFOX bracket is attached
to the substrate at zones of up to 350mm as standard. An
Eurofox uni-carrier is then attached to the bracket to
support the timber battening or frame. |
|
Aluminium ‘Hybrid’ systems such
as the Eurofox MacUNI allow Timber Cladding (and
cementitious weatherboarding) to be used onto timber battens
but with all the advantages of an Aluminium back framing
being adopted. The system design accommodates any unevenness
in the timber and allows for the battens to be quickly and
accurately lined, levelled and secured lining whilst the
need for packing and cross battening is eradicated. |
|
EuroFox offers specifiers a full
design and load calculation service. This not only provides
specifiers with the peace of mind of a correctly designed
system, it also optimises material and design efficiencies.
As a first step, specifiers can access the company’s
user-friendly ‘Project Checklist’ system available on line
at
www.eurofoxengineering.com .This takes specifiers
through a step-by-step route to compiling the specification.
A project specific response is prepared including static
calculations for the project’s structural requirements,
AutoCAD drawings and project integrity checks and m2
layout advice calculations to project material
quantities and cost saving suggestions. |
